We connect the Tunisian diaspora and put its talent and capital behind the people building Tunisia's future.

Bridging Carthage and the World.

Carthage Foundation is an independent, non-partisan non-profit based in Berlin. We build what has long been missing between a scattered diaspora and the builders back home: research, community, capital, and media that work as one system.

Independent · Non-partisan · Berlin

The missing piece is not talent. It is connection.

Tunisia has builders. The diaspora has skill, money, and reach. What is missing between them is basic infrastructure: reliable ways to see who is doing what, and trusted channels through which help can actually move.

Millions of Tunisians live abroad. They send billions home every year, yet almost none of that becomes investment in companies, institutions, or ideas. Not for lack of will, but because the bridge was never built. Carthage Foundation exists to build it: carefully, transparently, and for the long term. We are not a political project and we are not a substitute for Tunisia's own institutions. We are the layer that lets a worldwide community and a rising generation of builders find each other and get to work.

One mission, four initiatives

Each initiative does one job well. Together they form a single system: research earns trust, media carries it, the network compounds it, and capital turns it into outcomes for founders.

Hannibal Institute

Research

The independent research arm. Careful, non-partisan analysis of Tunisia and its diaspora, written to be useful rather than loud.

  • Research on the economy, the diaspora, and what actually works
  • Worked-through answers, not commentary
  • Open methodology and disclosed funding

Byrsa.network

Community

The members' network, by invitation only. Named after the citadel of ancient Carthage, it is the gathering place of the people building across the corridor.

  • A curated membership of founders, operators, investors, and experts
  • Small circles around real questions instead of a noisy feed
  • Introductions and help that actually get somewhere

Tunisia.vc

Capital & data

The capital layer. A verified data platform on the Tunisian founder ecosystem first, and in time a private diaspora investment syndicate.

  • A verified directory of Tunisian-origin startups and investors
  • The yearly Tunisia Startup Ecosystem Report
  • Diaspora capital through clean, regulated structures, alongside credible co-investors

Tunisia.vc operates as a legally separate commercial entity. Membership in the Foundation or in Byrsa.network never grants investment access or any financial benefit.

How the pieces reinforce each other

  1. 01
    Research

Hannibal Institute produces independent work nobody else owns.

  2. 02
    Trust

Rigour and transparency earn a credibility that cannot be bought.

  3. 03
    Network

Tunisia.fm carries the work outward. Byrsa.network turns its audience into a working community.

  4. 04
    Capital

Tunisia.vc turns data and trust into investment in Tunisian-origin founders.

  5. 05
    Back into the mission

Part of the commercial side funds the research and the public goods, and the cycle grows stronger.

One rule holds it all together: value moves freely between the initiatives, influence does not. No commercial interest, member, or funder can direct our research or our editorial judgment.

Principles we do not trade

  • 01

    Independence

We turn down funding or alignment that would compromise our judgment.

  • 02

    Non-partisan by design

We work for Tunisia's builders, not for any government or party.

  • 03

    Transparency

Methodology, criteria, funding, and our own mistakes are published.

  • 04

    Rigour over narrative

We source what we claim or we label it clearly. Concrete reality beats discourse.

  • 05

    Trust before scale

A small network that delivers beats a large one that does not.

  • 06

    Three languages, one standard

Arabic, French, and English as equals in substance, never as decoration.
